THE VOLUNTEERS.

A parade of the Imperial Rifles was held yesterday evening. There was a very good j muste*, fifty-seven members out of eixty- ', one enrolled being present, under Captain Charlewocd and Lieutenants Marciel ami Holderness. An hour and a half's hard drill was put in under Staff SergeantMajor Barrett, Sergeant - Major Foster and Quartermaster - Sergeant Miller. Sixty Martini-Henry rifles, with swordbayonets, buff belts and pouches complete have been secured for the corps. The rifles are an exceedingly good lot, of London make. They will be issued to the ■ men next Monday. The contract for uniforms for the corps has been let to the Kaiapoi Woollen Company, which is to supply them all ; by the New Tear. '
