WORKING MEN'S CLUB.

■c The half-yearly general meeting of members of the Christchurch Working Men's Club was held in the social hall last night. There was a large attendance, and Mr E. Smith (president of the club) was in the chair. The balance-sheet showed: — Receipts for the six months .£ISBO 5s lid, expenditure .£1405 3s lOd, balance .£175 2s Id; previous bank balance brought forward .£lO7 12s 7d, present amount to credit in bank .£282 14s Bd. The statement of assets and liabilities showed a credit o£ .£2oS7 12s 3d. Both statements were unanimously adopted. The report of the Building Committee showed that a contract for new buildings to the value of .£758 had been put in hand, and that the memorial corner-stone of the new building would be laid on Saturday night, at nine o'clock.
