ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
[Per Press Association.! HAWERA, Jan. 21. This morning a poisoning accident occurred. Yesterday a man named Ticklepenny, working in the country, brought home some oatmeal found in a barn. This morning his wife and a neighbour cooked and ate some. The two women. and five children were seized with violent vomiting, and their position was critical for a time, but they are now out bf danger. It turns out that the oatmeal was mixed with arsenic, and was used by ' the man's employer to poison rats. WELLINGTON. Jan. 21. The body of George Laurie, of Waihenga, near Martinborough, has been found on the road. He is believed to have been thrown from his horse and his neck broken. Leonard Cole, the son of an old settler at Palmerston North, was drowned in the Manawatu River, near Foxton.
