PICNICS.
A meeting of thoso interested in the annual Lyttelton picnic was hold in the Colonists' Hall on Wednesday ovening. There was a good attendance. The balancesheet of last year's picnic was read, aud showed a small balanca to credit. It was unanimously decided to hold a picnic this year, and thoso present wore formed into a committee, with power to add to their number, to carry out tho arrangements. Considerablo discussion followed as to tho selection of a place to visit, and eventually a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs J. T. Brice, A. Rhind, C. Kay and G. E. Collins, was appointed to mako inquiries and bring up a report at next meeting. Mr G. E. Collins was elcctod honorary secretary, and Bir Campbell honorary treasurer, and tho meeting adjourned till' Wodncsday next. Yesterday the members of tho Church of Englaud at Belfast held a picnic at tho Kaiapoi Domain. Tho party, which numbered about 200, arrived at Kaiapoi by tlio morning train. During tlio (lav tho Woollen Factory v.-.-vi inspected. Ton was prepared in tho domain, aud tlio picnickers returned homo in tho evening much pleased with their outing.
