RAKAIA.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Oct. 5 ; present — Messrs Westenra, Brown and Bealey; Mr Westenra in the chair. Correspondence was read— From Mr George Breading, asking permission to fence, the road frontage of Gravel Eeserve 2960. Agreed to on condition that he puts a gate in the fence and keeps the reserve free from gorse. Eesolved— " That Messrs Westenra and Brown, with the Surveyor, inspect the road through the riverbed near Sheate's, which has become impassible through the encroachment of the river, and report on the subject to the next meeting." Eesolved— "That the hollow places where the water lies on the sides of M' Wha's Eoad, near S. Gibson's, be filled up ; that notice boards be fixed, declaring the bridges in Cordy's Eoad unsafe for "loads exceeding five tons in weight." The manager of the Hororata water-races attended with his re- [ port. Eesolved—" That Messrs Westenra and Bealey having agreed to the cleaning of their races being undertaken by the Council, tenders be called for the work." Accounts amounting to .£B4 were passed for payment.
