TIMARU HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS.
The annual sports of the Timaru High School were held on Friday, on the South Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club's grounds. The track was in excellent condition and the weather favourable until
the letter part of the afternoon, the prizes being distributed in the rain. There was a large increase in the number of entries, and most of the events were well-contested. The Senior Championship and Archdeacon Harper's medal were won by P. V. Scaly ■with nine points, W. Grant being second. The winner of the Junior Championship was G. Dorm, a promising athlete. He carried off the 100 yds (12Jseo), High Jump 3ft llAin), 440 yds under fifteen (67|sec), 200 yds Junior from scratch (25ijsec) and the Junior Steeplechase. Time — 23£ sec. Half-mile Handicap— P. Ord 150 yds, 1 ; C. Kerr 25yds, 2. . Time— 2min 17£ sec. Sack Eace— M. O'Brien 1. Mile Open— P. Scaly 1, W. Gunn2. Time— smin 41sec. Old Boys' Eace, 200 yds handicap (amateur rules)— P. Jonas 20yds, 1 ; 8.. Jonas lyd, 2. Won by two yards. Time — 215 sec. 250 yds, under sixteen —W. Gunn 1, E. Crawford 2. Consolation Eace — E. V.
