NEW GOLF CLUB.
A meeting of leading golfers was held in toe Clarendon Hotel yesterday at 5.15 p.m. ; present — Messrs B. H. Btirns (in the chair), W. T. Charlewood, J. M. Turnbull, A. S. Ot.terson, G. H. Lee, C. J. Lascelles, R M. Macdcnald, K. Marshall, S. Stevenson, W. H. Graham, J. Hodgson, andE. J. Ogle. . The Chairman said' the meeting had been called with the intention of starting a Summer Golf Club, to play near the Heathcote. It was proposed to have lady members, who would come in on exactly the same teims as the men, save that their subscription should be 10s 6d instead of a guinea. He would call on Mr Turnbull to give the meeting information as to the proposed new ground. Mr J. M. Turnbull stated that 65 acres of good playing ground were available, situated about one mile on the other side of the Heathcote Bridge. The rent asked was £6 per annum, and the club would have the right to make its greens, and to play on week days and Sundays if so desired. It was proposed by Mr Otterson, seconded by Mr Turnbull, and carried — " That a golf club be formed, to be called the Ferrymead Golf Club," and a large number of members were enrolled. ■ • It was decided that the rules should b 6 those of the Christchurch Golf Club as printed, with the addition to' "Rule 9— " That the subscrij>tions of lady members belOs6d."« The following were elected officers of the club:— Captain, Mr J* C. Wilson; secretary, llr J. M. Turnbull ; treasurer, Mr C. J . Lascelles ; committee, Messrs R. M. Macdonald, G. 11. Lee and A. S. Otterson, -with tlie above-namevi officers. The arrangements for the opening oay were left in the hands of the Committee. A vote of thanks to the Chaisman closed the meeting.
