Complimentary Social. — The members of the Women's Political Association purpose to entertain Mr W. W. Collins, M.H.R., at a " social " on his return from Wellington. The Cavalry in Camp. — The squadron went through an amount of good steady exercise yesterday in both mounted and dismounted drill. Mounted parades were I held in the Park both in the morning and afternoon, when extended and skirmishing movements were gone through, blank ammunition being used. The squadron was iOlso practised in ranking past Ijy troops and in file. Both horses and men are settling to their work, and there is a noticeable improvement in steadiness of drill movements. The sports programme for next .Saturday has been passed by the officers. The following are the events already arranged for:— Best Troop Horse, Lloyd-Lindsay Competition, Half-section, Spiral, Best Jumper Over Fences, Turk's Head, Rescue Race, Alarm, ' Melee and Tug-of -war (non-commissioned officers v. troopers). Lieutenant; Buchanan will be the officer for today, assisted by Sergeant Horrell and Corporal Rhodes. The routine duties for to-day are practically the same as those of yesterday. •
