News from Norfolk Island shows that the appointment of Colonel Spalding as administrator is viewed with dissatisfaction by the islanders, who consider themselves competent to manage their own affairs. . A young man named M'Phail, who was a rather eccentric character, ran amuck in South Melbourne to-day, and with a repeating rifle wounded a couple of persons and then shot himself dead. A RESIGNATION. The death has occurred of Frank Cates, the well-known actor. HOSPITAL TROUBLE. ADELAIDE, Sept. 11. Further trouble has arisen at the hospital. A patient was admitted suffering from an abscess, and Dr Napier stated that it was unnecessary to treat him immediately. Professor Watson, the honorary consulting surgeon, ordered Dr Moule, one of the junior resident doctors, to treat the patient, and he did so. This was reported to Dr "Napier, who ordered Dr Moule to discontinue his attendance in that ward. Subsequently the junior resident doctors resigned in a body. The Hospital Board then held a meeting, and suspended the juniors pending further inquiries.
