• «. THE KHALIFA'S FEARS. [Per Press Association.! CAIRO, Sept. 9. Osman Digna is reported to have declined the request of the Khalifa to march upon Dongola, on the ground Ihat & would be imprudent to leave the way open for the Indian troops to advance into the interior from Sualiim. The report of the death of the Khalifa is evidently untrue, as it is now stated that he is greatly alarmed at the recent actions of Osman Digna m connection with opposition to the expedition of the Egyptian forces.
