LYTTELTON.
: The election for three candidates to fill vacancies on this Council took place yesterday, and created a fair amount of interest. Shortly after seven o'clock the Eeturning-Offieer, Mr H. V. iKogers, declared the result as follows : — R. Brown 270, A. Chalmers 231, W. Radcliffe 195, T. L. Smith 186, W. H. Dalley 143, N. C. Schumacher 114 and J. Illlngworth 61. Messrs Brown, Chalmers and Radcliffa were declared duly elected.
