THE OPENING CEREMONY.
J^The formal opening of the show took place in the Lecture-room shortly after 3 p.m. Mr R. H. Rhodes, President of the Airrioultural and Pastoral Association, with the members of the . committee,, took their seats on the platform, on which were also his Worship the Mayor of Christchurch the Right Rev Bishop Grimes, the Mayors of St Albaus, Linwood and Woolston, Sir George Clifford, Mr C. Lewis, M.H.R., and some other guests. About 150 persons were present in the body of the room. The President welcomed the visitors and requested the Mayor of Christchurch tc open the exhibition. . His Worship, in a brief speech, expressed his pleasure at the excellence of the show ; and his gratification at having been re- . quested to declare it open, which lit formally did. The proceedings then closed.
