— ♦ THE DUKE OF ORLEANS. [Per Press Association. I PAEIS, May 19. The Dulce of Orleans, writing to the Duke D'Audriffet Pasquier, President of the Koyalist Committee, says that although he has no intention of coming forward as « candidate for the representation of Chalet m the Senate, he will be glad to receive the votes of the electors. He considers that the time lias come when it is necessary to choose between playing at a monarchy and making ifc a reality. A vain distrust of universal suffrage will only encourage the belief that, monarchic and elective rights are 'incompatible. He declined to censure Prince Henry's acceptance of a decoration from the Republic. The Duke D'Audriffet Pasquier is displeased at the tone of the letter, and has resigned. The younger pection of the Royalist Committee "is in sympathy with the Duke of Orleans.
