That most valuable substance, ambergis, which has recently been found near Kaipara in sueh v large quantities by a Native, who, on hearing that the ' others had already, if not previously, seen the mischief that might .easily have occurred, or, on the other hand, might have been overlooked, declined to negotiate, and for many years lay desolate, until a settler, hearing that a prohibition order had been granted, divided the whole thing and got away with the proceeds. There is very little sense in the foregoing paragraph, and there is about the same amount 'in the brain-boxes of those who smoke inferior cigarettes when they can get Indian Chief for the same price.
