Owing to a dispute between the Education Board and a School Committee relative to the appointment of female pupil-teachers a deadlock has occurred. Last night the committee passed the following resolution : — " As the Board has ignored its own regulations, and also the Act, the committee therefore closes the girls' school till the Board complies with its own regulations." The school was closed accordingly this morning. WELLINGTON, March 20. At the half-yearly meeting of the Trades Council, the report showed that the Council had done good work, and the balancesheet showed that the finances were in a» sound condition. Mr H. C. Jones was reelected president and Mr E. E. Vaney secretary.
