CHEVIOT COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Cheviot County Council met at the Land Office, M'Kenzie, on Saturday, at 2 p.m. ; present — Messrs J. Gibson (chair* man), P. T. Gell and G. W. Forbes. A letter was read from Mr A. Barron, with reference to the recreation and cemetery reserves at the Conway village settlement. It was moved by Councillor Gell, and seconded by Councillor Forbes, that the Council should apply to the Minister of Lands, asking him to vest the Conway recreation and cemetery reserves in the Cheviot County Council. In reply to a letter from Mr Barron relative to the Omihi stock reserve, the Clerk was in- - structed to say that the matter would be considered by the Council. The Secretary of the Christchurch Hospital Board wrote, asking for the contribution due from the Council. The Clerk was '.' instructed to acknowledge x'eceipt. The Clerk reported the passing of the valuation roll by the Assessment Court. The meeting closed at 3 p.m., after which the Council had an interview with the Chief Commissioner of Lands for Canterbury, to discuss the question of taking over the roads, the port and the reserves.
