DISTRICT COURT.

His Honor Judge Ward held a sitting of the District Court at Timaru on Wedttßß'day, concluding the business yesterday morning. A number of applications for probate of wills were granted, and three applications for orders of discharge from bankruptcy. A debtor named ■, James Patrick, lately a baker in Temuka, who has left his business, was adjudged bankrupt on the application of a creditor. Most of the day was taken up with . argument on an application for admission of a proof of debt by Dr Gv S. B>yes against the estate of W. G-. Aspinall ; Mr Salmond and Mr. Raymond for the applicant, Mr ' J. W. White opposing for the Deputy Assignee. The sum which it was desired to prove for was .£4238, about half being capital in excess of equal shares put into the firm of AspinaU and Hayes, which had been dissolved, the other half being moneys advanced subsequent to the dissolution. His Honor disallowed proof for the capital, but allowed proof for half the subsequent advances, except .£IOOO, to be allowed in full, as this was furnished under a Bpecial agreement of indemnity. Edward M'Grath, a bankrupt, was publicly examined, and inquiry made into the bona fides of a bill of sale given by him shortly before filing, to D. Munro,. as security over an entire horse. The result. was a decision in favour of the holder of the security, who had bought the horse from another vendor for the purpose of selling it oh terms to the bankrupt.
