RICHMOND CLUB.
[ This club held a seventy-five yards handicap in the bath yesterday evening. Results :— First heat: W. A. Thomas 9sec, 1 ; W. Bassett 2sec, 2; H. L. Armitage 3seo, 3. C. Low scr and W. Simpson 4gec also started. Won by two yards, half a yard between second and third. Time— 67f seo. Second heat A. B. Truscott 2sec, 1 i B. Carpenter 6seo, 2. Won by an inch or two. Time— 6osec. Final heat: Bassett 1, Truscott 2. Thomas! 3. Carpenter also started. This was a i splendid race. Bassett won by a bare ya !i '* fenr incheß separating second and third. Time — 59f sec. The time is the fastest yet done by a Canterbury awimmer in a 75yds race. Mr G. Milne acted as starter, Mr C. H. Fox as Sg & and Mesarß G * JoQ eB and W. J. totratton as timekeepers.
