Bangioea Athletic .Association.— At a meeting cf the committee of this Association, held at the Junction Hotel on Wednesday, the programme for the New Year's Day eport9 waa drawn up on the usual liberal ocale. It was reported that the track waß being put in good order, and that the preliminary arrangements for the sports were well advanced. SOUTHBEIDGE SCHOOL COMMITTED.— The monthly meeting was held on Monday evening ; present— Dr Withers (chairman), Messrs R.C. Burns, B. Webster, B.P. HiU, v C. Hampton, G. Marquand, W. W. Wilson, and the Seoretary. The head-master's report showed the number on the roll to be 231 and the average attendance 192. A letter was read from the Board of Education, stating that the assistant's engagement mutt cease in accordance wth the terms of appointment. A sub-committee was appointed to confer with the head-master as to the getting up of a concert to celebrate the break* ing up for the Christmaa vacation. It wai decided to write to the Board of Education inquiring if the head-master was requited to teach the seventh standard. Accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting dosed. ■ ; >

Dabfibld.— The monthly meeting of 1 the School Committee was held on Novi-2 j present— Meßsra E. Reid, Whall, Long. Mulholland, D. Gillandera, Matheson and Dr Inglis (chairman). The Master's teporb showed an average for the past month ot 803, from a roll number of 96. The' examination report, by Dr Anderton, waa received, and it wu unanimously agreed that the thanks of the com* mittee be con rayed to the master and' mistress for their gerrices daring the past year, and that they be congratulated' on the excellent report secured under the disadvantages of bad weather during the winter. The tender of Mrs Gibbs for the school cleaning was accepted. - Mr Whall •> introduced the aubject of a swimming bath for the school, and it was finally resolved that the Chairman and Messrs Whall and Mulholland should be empowered to make ■ inqniriea and report at the next meeting. Mr Mulholland was appointed vißiting member for the month. •
