Apologies were received from Messrs Duncan, Murphy and Cooper. i The questions of preventing the praotica of drivers of two carts tying thereinßof the led horse and thereby causing it to , suffer, slaughterhouses, and poisoning dogs, I were discussed. . Letters were received from the Ofcago, Wellington and Auckland Societies, agree* r ing to co-operate with the Canterbury '. branch in various matters. Ifc was agreed i to allow these matterß (dehorning cattle, numbering of all 'vehicles, &o.) to stand over for further consideration. k The Secretary read the report of pro- ( ceedings since last meeting. Subscriptions , amounting to £3 Is 6d had been received. , On the question of rewards for the dis- , covery of the miscreant who has been , maltreating horsea lately, it was deoided t i that no practical benefit would result I therefrom. Mr Parker repotted two cases ' of alleged cruelty to horses. Cautions had ; been given to the parties concerned. ,' The meeting then terminated. .- t
