Boys' High School.
The hall of Canterbury College was crowded with pupils of the Boye' High School and their friends' last night, when the winter entertainment, given at the end of the second term, took place. The members of the football teams of the Wellington and Nelson Colleges were present aei guests. The programme was an exceedingly good one. Mr Maitland Gardner gave a recitation, Tom Hood's "Lost Child" and, sang " The Heavy Dragoon," Mr Arthur Merton sang Mattel's " Oh, Oh, Hear, the Wild Winds Blow," Mr E. B. Buokeridge sang " The Stirrup Cup" and Mr J. P. Firth gave a recitation. Catches were sung by Messrs T. Cane, A. "Morton and Maitland Gardner. Master J. H. Baillie eang, and Master L. Lewin played a pianoforte solo, Thalberg'a arrangement of "Home, Sweet Home." Sir G. 0. Trevelyan'a extravaganza, Horace at the University of Athens, was played by a number of the pupils. The performance was highly effective and creditable in every way, and the characters were represented by E. E. Hall, V. Hutton, T. Byan, J. Guthrie, G. F. Barnes, H. P. Richmond, C. E. Tendall, F. A. Delamare and Aubrey Cox, with a number of auxiliaries.
