CHILLED BEEF.
A telegram from Wellington says that Mr Prentice, who had oharge of the last shipment of chilled meat by tbe Gothic, retnrned in the vessel. He left for the south last evening to make an exhaustive inspection of the southern freezing works as to the accommodation of meat intended for shipment, also as to tbe quantity likely to be available for taking Home in regular shipments. He will afterwards report to the syndicate at Home. It iB quite pos* sible that instead of proceeding Home in the Gothic, he may go on to Queensland for the purpose of obtaining information as to the carrying on of a large export trade from that colony. The Gothio will take another load of chilled beef from Wellington on her homeward voyage.
