Sydenham Amateur Swimming Club.
The annual concert and distribution of prizeß in connection with the Sydenham Amateur Swimming Club took plaoe in the Wesleyan schoolroom, Sydenham, last evening. There was a large attendance, including representatives from the Christohuroh, East Christchurob, Bichmond and Lyttelton Clubs. The concert programme wae well arranged, and the variouß items were reoeived with hearty applause by a very appreciative audience. Miss N. Hall played a pianoforte seleotion, and Misses Billens, Watson, and Messrs C. J. Farrant, K. Halley, G. E. Collins, G. Hall and G. J. C. Smart sang some very good songs. Mr D. Sinclair played a clarionet solo, Mr W. A. Hall gave his character sketch of a local celebrity, Messrs T. H. Harker and H. Bickerton gave an exhibition of club* swinging, and Messrs Hall and Joll performed a pantomimic eketoh entitled " The Chemist's Shop." The prizes won during the past season were presented by the President (Mr W. Jacques), who congratulated the club on the success it had attained since its institution. The follow* ing were the prize-winners *.— Club races : A. Kent, C. Cameron, A. Bussell, A. H. Cooper, A. H. Jarvis and C. Dowding. Inter-club races : 50yds Handioap— C. L. Hiorns (Bichmond) first, B. Hampton (Sydenham) second. Ladies' Bracelet— W. H. Thomas (Bichmond) first, S. Sinclair (Lyttelton) second. Autumn Handioap— C. Eent (Sydenham) first, W. C. Harrington (Lyttelton) second. The gold medals for the Water Pota Championship of New Zealand were presented to Messrs J. M. Watson, G. Smart, W. Halliday, C. H. Fox, A. Brabner, J. Patterson and J. Casboit (members of the Chrißtchuroh Club). The Swimming Association's Water Polo Championship banner was presented to Mr Watson, oaptain of the Christchurch Club's team.
