, The Richmond, from Raratonga, arrived three dayß late owing to a crankshaft carrying away. Having a spare one on board, the engineer replaced it; but cargo had to be shifted.
At the inquest on Alexander Dixon, a gum-digger, who shot himself at Patuamohe, a verdict or suicide while temporary insane was returned. He had been worrying over the loss of relatives, and had been in a melanoholy Btate since the Laurie fatality. He left a note in hia whare :— " Dear Clara (his Bietar),— l have sent you all the moD&y I have. Good-bye. God bless you and the children. — A. Dixon. August 24."
