MINING.

[Special to Pbesb Association.] LONDON, August 9. The directors of the Londonderry mine, West Australia, report that an unsettled question relating to Mr Casey's interest in the mine prevents the completion of the trust. Colonel North, the Earl of Fingall and Mr T. Hewitt Myring, directors of the company, are prepared to execute the trust. Unless the shareholders desire to litigate, the. directors propose to comply with the demand of the Australian vendors for the allotment of the balance of the vendors' shares, though advised that the case is full of suspicion. The Earl of Fingall objects to the erection of machinery until the mine has been further proved. He regards the prospects of success as small. Only ,£30,000 of working capital is available, irrespective of Colonel North's trust. A meeting is called for August 16. P?bb Pbksb Association.! GREYMOUTH, August 11. The coal export for the week was 1539 tons, Blackball 654 tons. REEFTON, August 11. The following are the gold returns for theweek: — Keep-it- Dark, 113oz of amalgam from 87 tons ; Herculea 114oz of amalgam ; Cocksparrow Dredge, 290z of amalgam for 118 houra ; Buller dredge, 220z of gold for 104 hours. WEBTPORT, August 10. The coal export for the week ended to* day was:— Knights of Labour 195 tons, Cardiff Company 1008 tons, Weatport Coal Company 3970 tons, total 5173 tons. The following, from the Marlborough Daily Times, of August 1, will be of interest to the Chriatchurch shareholders, of two to three thouaand shares, in the Wakamarina Gorge Gold-mining Company: — " Our Wakamarina correspondent writes —Work at the gorge is being pushed ahead with all possible speed. A large quantity of timber has been got out of the bush in readiness for the dam. The old crate dam at the head of the gorge haa been repaired with a view to keeping out the water, while the new head dam ia being put in. Mr Powick, engineer to the company, has made extensive alterations to the pumping machinery, completely doing away with the famous spur-wheel mode of driving the pumpa."
