A preliminary inquiry into the stranding of the Bteamer Eiripaka waa held to-day. The evidence will be sent to Wellington. The captain attributed the accident to the beacon being obscured by rain at a critical time. At a meeting of the Workers' Political Reform League, the Bill for the suppression of immorality waß considered. The following resolution was carried :— " That •while not agreeing with the proposed Suppression of Immorality Act, this League aßks the Government to see that the police enforce their powers in a more rigorous manirer."
