ENTERTAINMENT COMMITTEE.

The Entertainment Committee met at the conclusion of the meeting of the Workers' Committee. Fourteen members were present. Mr G. B. Hart presided, and reported that the acoustic properties of the concert hall had been tested, and found very satisfactory. The question of railway excursion fares had been relegated back to the sub-committee in order to Bee if further concessions than those offered by the authorities — ordinary excursion fares— could be obtained. An offer had been received to print the programmes free of cost on condition that a certain advertisement appeared on it. The ladies and gentlemen who were to give entertainments had been informed of the dates fixed. Two additional offers of assistance were received, ._ It was resolved, on the motion of Mr S. Hurst Seager, seconded by Mr Frostick— " That for the reserved seats six different coloured tickets be printed, and Bold both at the exhibition and at Messrs Milner and Thompson's ; one colour to be used on any one night, and the rotation of the colours to be arranged by the oommittee from time to time." Messrs Hart, Roper and Frostiok were appointed a sub-committee to make arrangements for refreshments for performers at entertainments. After some routine business the committee adjourned to 8 p.m. on Saturday next. A trial of the arrangements for lighting the building erected for the industrial exhibition was made on Saturday evening, and was very satisfactory. It was found that the avenues were fully as well lighted aa is necessary for ordinary purposes, and that the illumination of the concert hall waa brilliant. In the avenues are about one hundred 18-candle power gas-burners, placed some 10ft apart. In the concert hall are six regenerative burners— two of two-hundred candle-power each, two of one hundred and fifty, and two of one hundred and twenty. To these will be added sixteen burners, either incandescent or triplex, as may be found to be most suitable. The Decoration Committee will begin the work of decorating to-morrow. A Eub-committee of the Space Committee has marked out and numbered all the exhibitors' allotments, and it is hoped that persons exhibiting will be at liberty to begin putting in their exhibits to-morrow. It is intended to insist on everything being in its place in time for the opening on August 29.
