AUCKLAND, Juke 18.
At a meetiDg of the Birkenhead Fruitgrowers' Association, it waa decided to communicate with the Premier, protesting against the treaty between New Zealand and South Australia being ratified, on the ground that it would" Beriously injure fruitgrowers. The question of licensing the Royal Hotel, Hamilton, is to be reopened. Through inadvertence in not giving notice of the application for a renewal of licenae, the caße as it came before the Licensing Committee at the last meeting was informal. To get over the difficulty, the meeting was adjourned to June 25. The Chairman strongly objected to the adjournment, as he waa sure the proposed action would be illegal.
