COURTENAY.
A meeting, of this Board was held on Tuesday, all the members being present. Mr J. Gougb was elected chairman of the Board. The ballot taken resulted in the retirement of Messrs H. A. Knight, C. Budd and G. Watson at the end of the year. A reduction of J530 per annum in the salary paid to the Clerk and Surveyor was agreed upon. It was resolved that the fa* to be paid to deputy-returning-officers at any. Boad Board election should be one guinea, without any allowance for travelling with papers, as heretofore. Tendere for leasing ({ravel reserves were opened, and those of J. MC. Johnson, G. Witty, W. Strange, M. Smith, C. Budd, J^ Gill and J. Welsh accepted. Correspondence was read and dealt with. The Waimakariri Biver Board forwarded copy of a special order, staking a rate of three sixty-fourths of a penny in the £ on so much of the rateable property in the district as was comprised within the boundaries of the Biver Board district The Clerk was instructed to forward notices . for the removal of gorse from roads to several persons. Accounts amounting to J663 2s 7d were passed for payment.
