CANTERBURY METEOPOLITAN TROTTING ASSOCIATION.

A mooting of this Association was held at the City Hotel last evening; presentMessrs C. Hood Williams (chairman), W. Tonks, C. S. Howell, A. Duncan, Y. Harris and F. Beverley.

The Chairman reported that he had written to the Auckland Trotting Club on May 23, forwarding the Association's resolution affording that olub an opportunity of explaining its action in regard to the Edwards disqualification. As more than a fortnight elapiaed without the Association receiving an acknowledgment of its letter, he had thought it desirable to wire to the. Auckland Trotting Club on the matter. They replied by wire on June 11, acknowledging receipt of. the letter in question and stating that a meeting of their club was to be held on June 14, when the Association*^ letters would be replied to. The Chairman also said that on May 22 he had received a telegram from the Auckland Trotting Club, communicating the disqualification of WBtide, -which they stated they had imposed on him on May 10. As the reason given for the disqualification, namely, " for using improper language in connection with officials," did not agree with the resolution passed at the conclusion of the public inquiry, he (the Chairman) had considered it necessary to call upon the Auckland Trotting Club for an explanation of the matter.

The Chairman's action was. approved, and it was resolved to call- a special meet' ing on receipt of the replies from Auckland. . .

The Lancaster Park Amateur Trotting Club submitted a programme for a meeting to be held oh July 6, the stakes amounting to JBSIO. Their balance-sheet sfiowed a surplus of iJ7S 16s 2d for the previous meeting. It was resolved— " That the Lancaster Park Trotting Club's prizes be approved, subject to the condition that in the event of the JU6O stake for the three-mile colonial reoord, to be run on July 6; 1895, not being won, the stakes at the clubta succeeding meeting be increased by that amount."

An amendment to the effect that the programme should not be passed unless the full amount of the advertised stakes, namely, £510, was paid, was negatived by four votes to two. .. V .
