ADDIGNTON YARDS.

THIS DAT. [Per "Stab's" Pigeon Express.] The lovely weather attracted a very large attendance at the live stock market at Addington to-day. Increased entries were the rule in all cases except store cattle, and business, more especially ia the sheep classes, showed a brisk tone. Fat Cattle. — The week'a supply o? fat cattle was made up of 176 head, 52 of which were in dealers' hands. There waß an absence of prime steers, the bulk of the yarding being medium-weight steerß and

heifers, with a fair proportion of heavy cow beef. The demand was fairly good, and a rise of about Is per 1001 b all round can be recorded. Daiby Cows. — A medium entry of cows and springerß contained nothing specially

choice, and though there was a better

demand all round, the quality militated against any rise in values. Store Cattle. — Store cattle were represented by about sixty head of aged cowa and calves, there being no quotable lines

yarded. Fat Sheep.— Between 4000 and 5000 sheep occupied the fat pens. The bulk of the entry was crosß-bred ewes of mixed quality, with a fair sprinkling of medium \ cross-bred wethers, and a few merinos. There were no especially poor lines in, and very few fit for export. In sympathy with the store market business opened briskly, the first few pens of crossbred wethers from Mr Geddep, of Weedonp, selling ak lls Id to 12s, and wethers and maiden ewes at 10s 3d. There is every proßpeot of prices keeping up throughout the sale, as several buyers for export are present, and the local butchers are operating freely. Stoee Sheep. — The store sheep market was well supplied, the bulk of the entry being forward turnip Bheep from the Peninsula and other parts of Canterbury.

The sale was one of the best of the season, and prices showed an advance of Is . per head on last west's rates, taking into consideration the difference in the quality of the sheep. A line of very forward crossbred wethers brought up to 10a 9d, and another line Bold at 9s 2d ; Peninsula turniperß brought 7s 4d to 8s 9d, and a line of half-bred downs 8s 9d; other turnip wethers from 6s 6d to Bs, young eweg in lamb 7s to 8s 4d, full-mouthed do 4a 3d to ss. A line of inferior two and fonr-tooth wethers from Blenheim Bold at 5s 4d to Ss 9d, and ewes from the same flock at 5a 6dj boilers at 2s 3d to 2a od, and lambs at 4s 4d, 5s 4d, 7s Id to 83 Id for extra good. Pigs. — The accommodation in the pigpens was taxed to its utmost, the bulk of the entry being heavy-weight baconers. The sale throughout was very uneven, and the rise of laafc week was not sustained, baconers and porkers averaging about 2fd I per lb.
