Sacred Concert.

There was a good attendance at the sacred concert given last night in the Temple of Truth, under the direction of Mr Fitzgerald Faulkner. The programme was a good one, and was rendered in a manner which reflected great credit on that gentleman's training of the choir and orchestra. The march from Meyerbeer's Le Prophete and a selection (Judas Haccabams) were given by the organ, piano and orchestra very effectively, as was Jude's " Trumpets' March" by the organ and orchestra. Mr Faulkner's two organ solos, "Eloquence" (Lott's arrangement) and Kulloek's Pastorale in F were admirably played. The latter was charming in its artistic delicacy. Altogether, Mr Faulkner's performance was bo good as to warrant a desire to hear him on a larger instrument. Mr 0. Biinz's yiolin solo, the andante and finale from F. David's "Le Petit Tambour" was good, and showed him to be a player of much promise. One of the most pleasing of the vocal numbers waa the duet, "O, Lovely Peace," by Misses Lloyd and Skelton, whose voices blended very harmoniously. Miss H. Wells sang Gounod's " There is a Green Hill," and Miss May Wells took the bolo in Spohr'a anthem, "As Pants the Hart." Mr Mason's singing of "Honour and Arms" was vigorous and effective. Mr C. J. Hickson essayed the air, " Comfort ye," which was too difficult a task for him. Mr Toung was fairly successful with Jude's "Mighty Deep," as was Mr Trewerne with "Cujus Animam." The choir sang the chorus " And the Glory " from *the Messiah, and Boeaini'B anthem, "To Thee, Great Lord" creditably, but in the first-named the orchestra was somewhat too powerful.
