The Late Mr. A. J. White.
The body of the late Mr A. J. White, which was encased in a. solid oak coffin, covered with beautiful floral wraths
uad crosses, remained in the church until 2 p.m. yesterday, when the fnneral ser- " rice was commenced in the church. While the coffin was being borne to the hearse the organ pealed forth "The Dead March." The funeral corlige was then formed, and moved on;. to the Pablic Cemetery, Lin* wood, where the obaequieß were carried oat by the Bishop, as isted by tho same clergy as in the morning, the service being choral. In front of the hearse marched
the children" of the Convent and the scholars of the Maria t Brothers' school, and following it were the chief mourners. Coming next were the employed of the warehouse owned by the deceased, eoine of whom aoted as bearer*. Behind these came the Bishop and assistant priests, ■with the acoljteß all in full vestments, and then followed over one hundred carriages, besides a large number on foot. The streets were lined wi*h. people, and the procession, whioh was fully three-quartera o! a mile long, took twenty minutes to pass a givfn Bpot. At the cemetery there were quite two thousand people assembled. A very large number of floral tributea were sent. Amongst the societies represented were the League of the Cross (of which deceased had been vice-president), the Society of St
Vincent de Paul and the Catholic. Literary
Society, of both of which he had been an honorary member.
