[Peb Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 8. The manager and other cfficer-i of the ! Midland Eailway Company have resigned i their positions and taken eerpice under the Government. All the takinga are being lodged to the public account. The Govornment iB advised that there ia sufficient authority under the Act to proceed ■with the works, but aa the Company haa dftclincd to hand over the planß, fresh surveys would have to be made. [from our special correspondent.] In some quarters ifc has been stated that the Midland Eailway officials refused to take eervice under the Government. Mr Blow, Under-Secretary for Public Works, states that when tha Manager of the line refused to do certain thins*,a required, ho waß given twenty-four hours to consider whether he would or would not accept service under the Government. He sent his resignation in to the Company, and decided to act under the Government. All the station-masters on the line also gave written acceptances of service under the Government. Ao the Company declines to hand over the plans, tho Government is considering the advisability of starting surveys, in ordor to construct new plans.
