Canterbury Liberal Association.

A meeting of the committee was held last evening, the President in the chair. Reference was made to the loss sustained by tho secretary, Mr 0. Foster, by the death of hia wife, and a letter of condolence was sent to bim. The question of tbe unemployed was discussed at considerable length, and the following resolution waa passed— "That the large number of unemployed in all the principal centres of labour in tbe colony calls for immediate relief by the Government, and that they bo requested to at once find more funds for the purpose of relieving the prevalent distress, with the full assurance that the country and the House, when ifc meets, will fully endorse their Liberal policy." The Opera House. — There was again a good attendance at the Opera House laat evening, when the Albambra Gaiety Company repeated the programme of tho previoua night. The programme was well received, most of the items being encored. The company will give a new programme this evening.

Sydenham Po .ltby Show. — The entries received for tha Sydenham poultry show, which takes place on Wednesday and Thursday next, are ua follows: — Poultry 270, pigeons 222, canaries 20 ; total 512. Tne judges for the various breeds are :— -Game, Dorkings, Cocbius, Ducks, Orpingtons, Novice Clsbs and Bantams, JVlr A. Temple ; Barbs, Pouters, Show Homers, Working Homers, Antwerps, Variety Clasa and all varities of Tumblers, Mr J. M'Lean; Canaries, Messrs G. Ritchie and T. Stapleton.
