INDIGNANT JURORS.
When the further adjournment of the inquest on the . body of Eva Horneby, one of the infants with whose murder the Deans Btand charged, was applied for at the Courthouse, Invercargill, on Monday morning, Mr J. W. Bain, foreman of the jury, protested against the repeated adjournments, and said he failed to see occasion for a further suspension of the proceedings. The jury came prepared to do their work, and they were being put to considerable inconvenience through the delays. He asked if they could not be discharged, as he understood an adjournment would be made to Monday. The Coroner said that was impossible, as if it were done the newly constituted jury would require the bodies exhumed. Mr i D. Roche, one of the jurors, Bpoke warmly ! regarding the adjournments, and said there were plenty of solicitors m Invercargill, without being compelled lo wait the attendance of one from Dunedm. He asked, if he refused to sign the document requiring his future attendance, what would be done. The Coroner : You would be imprisoned. The juror : And supposing I am not present on the day fixed. The Coroner: You would be fined £20. (Laughter 1 .)
