Drunkenness. — Gregor M'Gregor, charged on remand with helpless drunkenness, was fined ss, and ordered to pay costs, £1 16s Bd, in default ninetysix hourft' impriepntnent.— Jameß Lynch, for 'drunkenness, 'was fined 5s and coats, in default the usual alternative.— Mary Moxham was sentenced- to fourteen days' imprisonment.

Vagrancy. — Ellen Parkinson was charged with having insufficient lawful merfns of support. Detectives Marsack and Maddren deposed that the accused had been arrested last night in the grounds attached to So Michael's Church. There had been frequent complaints from this neighbourhood as to meat safes being robbed. The accused had, on numerous occasions, been turned out of empty houaeß, and had a long list of previous convictions. She was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. — James Grant alias M'Gilvery pleaded not guilty to a charge of haying insufficient lawful means of support. Detectives Maddren and Marsack deposed that the accused had done no work for the past three or four, months, and had been seem loafing about : the town following up drunken men. The accused and his wife gave evidence. The Bench sentenced the accused to two months' imprisonment.- ' ;

Alleged Wifb Desertion and Big am r. —George Peck waa charged (on remand) with having deserted his wife, Annie Louisa Hopper Peck, on May 10, 1894, and further with having, on July 22, 1894, contracted marriage with ' Ellen Louisa Moore, his wife, Annie Louisa Hooper Peck, being still alive. On the application of Inspector Broham, the accused .was remanded till June 4, to enable Mrs Peck to be brought from Auckland.

Maintenance Case.— Frederick Joneß Bidmeade was charged, on the information of his wife, Mary Ann Carey Bidmeade, with having failed to provide his two children, Harold Bidmeade, aged thirteen years, and Constance Bidmeade, aged ten years, with adequate means of maintenance. Mr Flesher appeared for the complainant, and Mr Russell for defendant. After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate declined, to make an order.
