AKAROA.
The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Akaroa Borough Council was held on Wednesday evening; present— The Mayor and Councillors Henning, Chappell, Watkins, Yangioni and Perm. The Marine Department wrote, agreeing to vest the Akaroa wharves with the Council for another fourteen years. The Colonial Secretary wrote, stating that the sum of JBI4 6s Id had been authorised for payment, being half the difference between the cost of the licensing elections of 1891 and 1894. The financial statement showed the receipts since last meeting to have been £1 3s 9d. Accounts to the amount of J617 7s were pa._ed for payment. The debit balance at the bank was .£l4l 19s lOd. Mr B. M. Spurr was re-elected auditor of the wharves accounts. Petroleum licenses were granted to Messrs Taylor, Yangioni and Henning. The Finance Committee brought in its report of the estimated reoeipts and expenditure for the ensuing year. The report was approved.
