The ordinary meeting of this Council was held on • Monday evening ; present — th e Mayor and Councillors ■ Stinson, Owen , Cook, Eadcliffe, Laurenson, Brioe and Webb. Leave of absence was granted to Councillor Illingworth. A letter was read from Eev Father Salvador having reference -to the drain near the convent, It was reported that the matter was being dealt with by the Sanitary .Committee. Mrs H. All wright wrote, asking the Council to accept a portrait of ljer late husband. ,to be hung in the Council Chambers. The picture was accepted, and it was resolved to write and thank Mrs Allwright for the gift. The Foreman of Works, in his fortnightly report, detailed the work done since the laßt meeting. The Finance Committee recommended payments, amounting to J6155 16s 7d, and reported the receipt's since last meeting to have been .£l6B Os Bd.V The report was adopted. Councillor Webb, on behalf of the Water-supply Committee, reported that some damage had been done to the water service in Salt's Gully. A number of boys who had done the damage had been given ten days in which to pay for it, or in default the matter would be placed in the hands of the police. The action of the committee was approved. An extension of time was granted to the committee who were considering the matter of a Lock hospital. After disposing of other routine business, the meeting terminated.
