AKAROA.

The usual fortnightly meeting of the Akaroa Borough Council was held on Wednesday last ; present — the Mayor and Councillors Chappell, Taylor, Grange, Munro, Tallents, Perm, Henning, Vangioni and Watkins. The applications ot the Oddfellows' Hall and Temperance Hall Committees for renewal of licenses were granted. A letter was received from the wharfinger enclosing a cheque for wharfage during the paßt quarter. The statement of accounts showed the receipts since the last meeting to have been .£64 33. Accounts to the amount of £52 49 2d were pasßcd for payment. The debit balance at the bank of New Zealand was reported to be £90 19s Sd. It was decided to erect a new lamp on Bench Road, and to procure a new lamp for the wharf. The Finance Committee was authorised to prepare estimates for the year 1895 96.
