RUSSIAN THREAT AGAINS
ENGLAND.

Sir E. G-rey said that the treaty of 1858 provides- that Great Britain shall share equally in any future commercial concessions China may
grant. A correspondent of the Standard asserts that there is a conviction in Berlin that the Japanese will prefer to fight Russia rather than renounce the annexation of certain Chinese territory which they captured. Many German newspapers, it is said, disapprove of supporting Russia in her opposition to some of the conditions of peace. Several Parisian papers, too, protest against France being dragged at the heels of Russia.
ST PETERSBURG, April 26.
The Viedotniste, in an article apparently inspired by the Czar's personal friends, states that if Great Britain supports Japan, India will suffer.
The Novoe Vremya states that the negotiations between Russia and Japan hare taken a favourable turn, and it is expected that the matters in dispute will aoon-be-*©ti]©d»- — --. -*"" SHANGHAI, Apsis 26.
