Mr Beswick appeared for the complainant,' and Mr Lane for Charles and Sidney Amyeß. There was no proof of service against Hubert Thomas Amyes, and the other brother did : not appear. The complainant stated that he was a son 06 Edmund Amyes. Some time ago an order was made by the Court directing him , to pay £1 a week towards the support of his father. He had kept up the payments for some months, but now found that he was not in a position to pay the full amount. Charleß Amyes stated that he was unable to pay anything; Sidney Amyes said he had been giving his father 7s 6d a week for some time past, and he waß willing to. keep up that payment. The Magistrate said it was a great pity these family troubles were not settled out of court. An order was made' directing each defendant and the complainant to pay 4s a week towards the support of their father.

Boad Board.— At a special meeting of .the Mandeville and Eangiora Boad Board; held yesterday, Mr E. Smethurst was appointed cattle ranger; and the tender of Mr J.Buckley for forming the Okaihau Boad was accepted. The Homewabd Mail.— The mail edition of the Canterbury Times was published this morning. It contains a large volume of colonial news and other interesting matter, and ia the beet paper to send to friends at Home. It should be noted that the postage of the Canterbury Times to the United Kingdom, America, Europe, &c, is now 2d. Thb Cocksfoot Harvest.— Our Akaroa correspondent writes : — The cocksfoot harvest is now in full swing, and, given fine weather, a good deal will be threshed during the week. In all parts of the Peninsula it is expected that the seed will, be a much better sample than it wbb last season. Akaroa Boating Club. — The halfyearly general meeting of the Akaroa Boating Club was held on Saturday evening. The captain, Mr Barker, presided. The report showed that there had been a large increase of members during the season, and large entries had been received for the different club races. The receipts up to the present had been £57 6s 9d, and the expenditure £54 19s/ The report was considered very satisfactory, and was unanimously adopted. Messrs Penlington, 1 Wolfrey, Nicholls and M'Gregor, winners of the dob's Double Sculls, were presented with the prizes*
