THK JtDITOB. j Sib, — Those who have accused tie ' Government of being apathetic towards J the unemployed will be gratified to hear that a new settlement is to be founded in I the North Island, the name given to it 1 being •• ColHnsville " i n honour of the member for Christchurch, who succeeded in obtaining a grant of land from the Hon John M'Kenzie on exceedingly advantageous terms. ID ? i t0 B be "gretted is that the Minister of Lands did nob stipulate that the settlers should be bond, fia<> New Zealanders; that is, that they should have been people who had paaaed a sufficient time here to have given them an interest in the colony and ifcs welfare, and should have excluded all birds of pasige from the neighbouring colonies. The members of the new community started yesterday. —I am, &0., A TWENTY YEARS' RESIDENT.
