EARTHQUAKE.
Widespread Havoc in Greece. Three Hundred Lives Lost. [Special to Press Association.] ATHENS, April 28. Earthquakes have caused widespread havoc throughout the country. Talanta is nearly in ruins. Hundreds of families there and elsewhere are homeless. The shock occurred while service was being held in a cathedral in the city. There was a crowded congregation, and a panic resulted, which was only allayed by the presence of mind of M. Tricoupis. Thebes has been utterly destroyed by renewed shocks, aud it is estimated that fully three hundred persons were killed. ATHENS, April 28. The Larissa prison was wrecked by the earthquake, and the prisoners were liberated.
