w On Friday afternoon. Mr J. B. Mayne, head-master, on behalf of the teachers and scholars of the Ashburton school, presented Miss Mary A. Grant, the infant mistress, who is leaving for Weßt Christchurch, with a handsome leather dressingess?. A social gathering was held in the Bead Board office, Sheffield, on Friday evening, for tbe purpose of enabling friends to say farewell to Mi.s May Vincent, who for the last three years has had charge of the Sunday School at St Ambrose's Church, but who -3 now leaving the district. During that time, through Miss Vincent's exertions, the attendance has increased from six to more than fifty. There was a large attendance of parents and friends, and Dr Meadowe, on behalf of the subscribers, presented a farewell address and a handsome Davenport to Mies Vincent. Mr C. Vincent suitably responded on his sister's behalf.
