Captain Sundstrom took every precaution, and fired con- ■ tinuous signals, which were calculated to j be heard at a distance of seven miles, but j met no response. Finally he landed two men at Tewaewae Bay to unite with a search party there, thus forming a party of five men with two dogß to go in search of the missing people. The search party has fourteen days' provisions. A hard northerly gale, with comparatively smooth water, prevailed along the coast. INVEECAEGILL, Apbil 30. No newß has been received of the missing prospectors on the west coast, j Gordon Harvey arrived at Invercargill today. He states that when he left his mates they had no tucker and only two charges of ammunition left. On Sunday Harvey stripped, rolled hiß clothes in a bundle aud started to swim the river. When half way across the flax round the clothes broke and they drifted out to sea, Harvey, after a great struggle, escaping a like i-.te, and landing on the other side with only a handkerohief. For four days he travelled through dense '• bush and over tbe rooks that girt the ! shore, covering himself at night with ferns. The weather was tearfully boisterou. and cold most of tbe time, severe hail storms falling for two days. Had he not struck Treaseder _ survey camp he would almost certainly have perished. Considering his rougb experience, he is not in bad condition, and though his feet are much swollen, and his body torn by the bush, he has determined to leave by the steamer this afternoon in Beatoh of hia mates.
