In the Avon district the polling in favour of licenses remaining as at present was : — Liuwood 322, Phillipstown 125, Wool-ton 113, New Brighton 56, Burwoo'd 43, Marshlands 40, Clarkeville 22, Swannanoa 3, and Ohoka 50; total 774. For a reduction— Linwood 115, Phillipstown 32, Woolstpn 31, New Brighton 14, Burwood 13, Marshlands 2, Clarkeville 9,<*Swannanoa 1 and Ohoka 11 j total 228. For no license — Linwood 461, Phillipßtown 189, Woolßton 106, New Brighton 36, Burwood 39, Marshlands 35, Clarkeville 16, Swannanoa 16, Ohoka 62; total 960. It will thus be seen that a reduction has been carried here. The number on the roll is 3200, and the number of voteß polled is 1962. There were 123 informal votes cast. The complete voting for the committee ■v&b as follows:— J. T. Smith 1021, J. Taylor 1018, I. H. Pentecost 1013, T. E. Fraser 997, T. N. Horsley 972, W. Ensom 967, W. Crowe 963, W. Hammett 944, GK Bonnington 886, G. King 856, L. Bergh 827, J. Dilloway 808, 1. Parish 803, J. Kerr 786, E. N. Coraer 758 and. T. H. Henshall 733. There were 175 informal votes c°st tor the committee.
