Oxford Di strict Races.
Owing to the unptopitious weather the ; Oxford races were postponed from Satur- ' day last until yesterday. The weather was \ all that could be desired, a nice warm wind j blowing, with bright sunshine, which made i everything enjoyable. There was a, very good attendance, and the racing throughout was exceptionally good, the finishes being extremely close. The officials are to ba complimented on their efforts, which were crowned with success. Messrs Beath and Co. presented a beautiful cabinet for ,' competition. Owing to the sodden state of the ground the heavier horses had a slight advantage over their lighter opponents. The following are the results :— Hurdle Race, a sweepstake of 10s each, with 5 soys added; second horse 20s; minimum weight 12st. One mile and a half— Mr J. Blain'a. Misß Bell, 1, Mr A. Henderson's Minerva 2, Mr W. T. Gilchriet's Charlie 3. Lady Bird, Sternchaser, Barney, Paddy-go- Aisy and Fanny Grey also started. Time — 3min 3Gsec. Handicap Trotting Race, a sweepstake of 10s each, with 5 soys added; second horse 20a. Minimum weight 12st. Two miles— Mr A. Henderson (ns) Dinah ecr, 1 ; Mr R. Gilchrist's Cock Robin 15sec, 2; ' Mr J. M'Grath's Vail 253 ec, 3. Oxford Lass also started. Time— 6min 40sec. - Ladies' Purse, a sweepstake of 10s each, with 5 soys added; second horee 20s. Minimum weight list. One mile and a half— Mr F. Crowe's Blaze 3, Me Pi Bluett's Fiction 2, Mr T. Pearson's Why Not 3. Ladybird also started. Time— ' 3min 20eec« Farmers' Plate Flat Race, a sweepstake i of 103 each, with 5 eov3 added; second . horse 20a; minimum weight 12at; one j mile— Mr R. Charles's Minnie 1, Mr C. !
