The Bishop of Waiapu.
♦ [Peb Pbess Association.] NAPIER,. Jan. 29. Dr Stuart, Bishop of Waiapu, was entertained at a farewell gathering at the Athensum, Dean Hovell presiding. A life-size portrait of the Bishop, by Lin&aeur, was presented to- him by the members of the Synod, and the Bishop in turn presented it to the diocese. A purse of £120, contributed in small amounts by Europeans and Maoris in the diocese, was also presented to Dr Stuart, and speeches expressive of regret at bis departure were delivered by Anglican and other clergymen. The Bishop delivered an affectionate farewell address. Several addresses were also presented by the Cathedral Chapter and the Standing Committee on Saturday and to-day.
