The Opihi Bbidse.— The repairs to the Opihi traffic bridge have been completed in a very satisfactory manner, and the bridge has been reopened. About thirty spans at the southern end were stripped to the piles and a fresh superstructure erected. The decking ia now transferee instead of longitudinal, and the bridge ha? been greatly strengthened. Much of the material used was obtained by the dismantling of the Oxford-Temuka railway bridge, the bulk of the 1 timber in which was well-seasoned kauri. The bridge had been reopened only two days when the river rose and ran for a day literally from bank to bank.
